every saturday morning, the three (sometimes 5) of us walk the few short blocks to the local farmers market. this is definitely a highlight of my week, with all the color, people and food that you don't get to see around a college campus.
the end-of-summer produce colors are too bright, in a good way :)
and it's always fun (and by fun, i mean really awkward) to see one of your professors at the market. when this happened last year, i said a quick hello, and unfortunately saw that he really does dress like that in public...

here's what i get every week, if possible:
1. fuji apples. my favorite because they definitely have the best crisp/sweet/juicy ratio.
2. cucumbers. so great for hummus sandwiches and chopped on my spinach salads.
3. green bell peppers. such a great vessel for hummus. and let's be real, that's an important role for a vegetable.
4. sweet potatoes. three words, sweet potato fries.
5. oat-nut muffin. every saturday last year, i would buy a muffin to nibble as we browsed the tables. these muffins are huge! and delicious. and probably (most definitely) not very healthy. so this year, i'm making an honest effort to not linger over the baked goods table... struggle... and instead i get a small coffee to sip as we walk along.
and no, this is not iced milk with a splash of coffee. i mistakenly poured a little too much milk in my iced coffee, still delish. and it fulfilled my first coffee requirement of the day. (jokes! but actually...)
there's so much tempting produce, and it varies from week-to-week and through the seasons.
