10 steps to surviving a hurricane, 607-style

step 1: don't set any alarms!
we all woke up on our own internal clocks… it felt so nice to sleep in!

step 2: make french toast!
in the spirit of halloweekend i used the sprinkle stencils emily's mom gave us & made powdered sugar shapes on top of the sundried tomato french toast. it was a funky and delicious take on the traditional breakfast.

step 3: troll twitter
every so often we'd see what creative new tweets @afrankenstorm had to share with the world. my personal favorite: JUST BLEW A LAPTOP INTO THE OCEAN. NOW A DELL IS ROLLING IN THE DEEP. classic.

step 4: catch up on old tv shows!
we had a gilmore girls marathon… it was especially more exciting because we rented out a projector so we got to watch it on the big screen!

step 5: catch up with good friends!
we skyped with our friend mili in paris--for two hours!!!! when else would we have that much time other than during a hurricane?

step 6: run outside in the rain!
hayley & i donned our rainboots & raincoats & went puddle-jumping! we ran all over campus like little kids. luckily i now have a lifeproof case for my iphone, so i could take pictures of our shenanigans without having to worry about ruining my phone!

step 7: make breakfast for dinner!
we made pancakes with lindt dark chocolate thins.

step 8: watch a movie!
we watched bend it like beckham! such an awesome movie!!

step 9: paint your nails!
hayley & i trimmed them short & painted them dark--but not black… emily opted for a more subtle clear coat on her longer nails

step 10: do a little homework...
sorry, i had to--because i'm so proud of how we've not only taken time to sleep, chill, and run around like crazy people, but also to get ahead with work! plus, normal people, when preparing for a hurricane, shop for the essentials--water, flashlights, peanut butter--but what do i stock up on? pens! i'm definitely more excited than i should be that i have a nice juicy new sharpie pen :) hey, if we were stuck without power & i only could work on readings to pass the time, what would get me through? a quality pen to take notes with...

off to go hide in my nerd hole...
