i definitely had an eventful saturday (see lauren's bon iver post!) this saturday was the department of geography and environmental engineering ("dogee") crab feast. every fall the department hosts this event for students, faculty, and staff in the department. freshman year, hayley and i went and we were one of the three or four freshman. we were so intimidated because everyone ended up being a grad or phd student! but this year we were in luck... as juniors we know more people and recognize the older students from mutual classes. we even went with a friend who went with us to the 2010 crabfeast!
good thing hayley is a crab eating pro. we didn't know how to open up the crab so she showed us the ropes..or to be more precise..the insides...
look at those nails! eating a crab in style |
our friend eating some tasty goodness |
my plate at the end of the process |
besides eating crab, we even played ladder ball with a couple other classmates and eventually had a match against the professors! unfortunately we lost :( i guess higher education does have its perks
