gettin classy

this past week we were able to enjoy the great deals of restaurant week as well as happy hours. by mixing it up with our regs routine, we got to have a taste of the good life (something besides a $3 menu. in addition, we had a super busy weekend. ch-ch-check us out!

monday: sotto sopra
prosciutto, shaved parmesan, grilled peaches, arugula
gianuia creme brulee
tuesday: blue agave
fried avocado and a classic margarita
brett dennen in mt vernon
fuzzy pear drink (pear vodka, peachtree schnapps, lime soda) and avocado/cucumber roll
friday: taco fiesta

no pictures, but the deal was buy two drinks and get a plate for a buffet! it was a small plate so we def thought we were going to go back for seconds (and even thirds if we were ambitious) but let's just say they def got us on drinks. but despite not being able to get more food than i wanted, i still snuck three burritos out so it's all good :P

saturday: casey cares 5k, baltimore museum of industry, alchemy, ottobar
casey cares 5k (sorry guys, you have to see me with no make up on!)
short stop at the baltimore museum of industry
a chorizo burger at alchemy for restaurant week lunch
free books at the book thing
late night selfie coming back from ottobar
sunday: boordy vineyards and fleet street kitchen
wine tasting at boordy vineyards
their award wining wine (though anticlimactic when we tasted it)
cheesecake from fleet street kitchen
as you can see we had a busy week! and unfortunately now that the summer is coming to an end, a couple of our friends have left us. i guess now it is time to recharge a bit before lauren's last week in baltimore.

happy hour round up!

take a look at what this past week had to offer us!

monday: talara
tacos and mango mojito..def the most flavorful ones so far!
tuesday: mari luna
more tacos and regular margarita...wouldn't go back for the tacos, but we did get free chips & salsa which is always appreciated
wednesday: bikram yoga
we have been pretty enthusiastic about our living social/groupon deals (but mostly groupon) this summer and i ended up getting a 5 class groupon for bikram yoga down in harbor east. because of the close proximity to work, i was able to go right when i left the office. despite the heat, i'm loving it! such a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle...that is, until i have to rush to catch the bus back to the 607

pomegranate martini
we met up with a friend we hadn't seen in a while and met a new one :)

saturday: wandering the citaayy
casual
best white peaches ever!
bright hat anyone?
can't believe it's soap!
funky exhibit at the hirshhorn museum
at the smithsonian gardens
sunday: zoo and georgetown
we spent the day at the smithsonian zoo and though i'm not a huge fan of zoos, it was pretty cool to see this orangutan cross our path. afterwards we headed toward georgetown to get lunch at sweet green and dessert at baked & wired. sorry, but i was way too hungry to take a picture! let's just say it was delicious :)

week roundup

it's been a great summer so far and it just keeps getting better and better! so good in fact that it's hard to keep up with these blog posts because we have been having so much fun <3 so here's a round up of what has been going on in the last week!

we began the week off right with a happy hour at bagby's ten ten. to accompany a bottle of prosecco, we had fried brussel sprouts and duck fat fries (yummmmm)
on tuesday, tacos didn't work out as planned so we went to chazz down in harbor east for pizza. pictured below is a potato, original margarita, and parma prosciutto pizza.
my parents came in on wednesday for my birthday weekend and for that special day we went to a restaurant i have always had my eye on: fogo de chao. let's just say meat was about 99.9% of my meal
tropical caipirinha
afterwards i met up with friends to go to howl at the moon for drinks! now i can check "dueling piano bar" off my bucket list.
and what a lovely surprise when my freeeaaannnd was able to get away from his summer plans and come for the weekend. us and a couple of friends went to red maple to feel a little classy.
the next day we went to artscape, a street art festival of food, performances, and free merch. we braved the heat and walked around for a good 4 hours!
geico could save you 15% or more on car insurance!
a cool piece of art on the sidewalk in front of penn station
then to finish off the week, the girls went to see pentatonix, an acapella group that won the sing off! they were amazing! talk about really feeling the music

birthday beach getaway

so the girls have been asking me for while to post, so it's time to let everyone know who this karate girl is (me). in a few words, i'm a writing sems major, a nature-lover & i love the 607 girls (partly because they are baking yummy sweets all the time). i have also recently turned 21, so my post is going to be about how we celebrated.

 my german chocolate cake :P

the night of my birthday, the 607 girls, a bunch of my other friends & i went to meet 27 for dinner & sweet 27 for dessert down in hampden. The girls & i then hopped in the car for a three-hour drive to rehoboth beach, delaware, where my family usually stays in the summer. we were accompanied by two of our guy friends, who provided plenty of music for me & lauren to sing to. ;)

getting our tan (burn) on

we had fun dealing with no running water, no parking spaces & no clouds in the sky when we went to the beach, but i was eager to get me some sun (working in an office all summer keeps a girl pretty pale). after the guys & emily picked up her boyfriend (who was also turning 21) & two other friends arrived to join us, we went to the lighthouse, a chill restaurant by the bay.

the lighthouse in dewey beach

cheers to first drinks (i got a strawberry daiquiri)

out on the dock at sunset :)

we also enjoyed shopping at outlet stores (lauren & i finding some very cute dresses), getting ice cream (the ice cream store has the best flavors) & playing uno til late at night (or early in the morning). we went to the beach one last time before heading back to baltimore & we were all pretty tired when we had to go to work the next day. ><

the whole gang

but it was an awesome weekend with some pretty awesome people & it was the best birthday celebration a girl could ask for. <3

tacos on tacos on tacos

for this week's taco tuesday we decided to stray farther away from campus and go to fell's point. we took advantage of alexanders tavern half off taco plates (original price is $9-10). this consisted of fillings on a large plate and three small soft tortillas on the side.
i def like the idea of putting my own stuff inside because i can regulate how much of what i want. however i could have gone for some more meat and refried beans...

show your pride

sorry for the late post, but we had another pretty hot weekend! it started with an impromptu ride on the dragon paddle boats down at the inner harbor. pricey but totes worth it :D so peaceful and during the perfect time of day (just when the sun was about to set)
the next part of our weekend consisted of joining a mass of people down at mount vernon to show our pride. peeps def went all out for the parade and the block party that followed.
that girl be fist pumping all the way down the street!
the latino float ruled the road
look at those outfits!
and then the final touch to a great weekend, trying out another new restaurant. ..the helmand. not the best pic, but i had the "dolma murch", bell peppers stuffed with seasoned vegetables and beans simmered in sun-dried tomato and rhubarb sauce with a side of challow and spinach.
and man was the yummy :)
